Pattaya unites over 500 volunteers for coastal cleanup during low tide drive
More than 500 volunteers join forces to clean Pattaya beach in major community effort. PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya Beach was abuzz with positive energy as Mayor Poramet Ngampichet led a large-scale beach cleanup campaign alongside city executives, municipal officials, and local community networks, June 23. Over 500 participants included the Deputy Mayors of Pattaya, City Council Members, representatives from the Pattaya Regional Marine Office, and key tourism stakeholders including the Pattaya Boat Operators Association, Pattaya Jet Ski Rental Club, Pattaya Beach Umbrella Chair Club, Traditional Thai Massage Club, and dozens of civic-minded residents. Pattaya Beach is one of Thailand’s most vital tourist destinations, welcoming Thai and international visitors year-round. Ensuring the cleanliness and safety of its shores is essential in maintaining the city’s image as a world-class tourism hub. During low tide, large amounts of waste often accumulate along the shoreline—plastic debris, broken glass, rusty nails, and other hazardous materials washed ashore by ocean currents. These pose a potential danger to beachgoers, making cleanup efforts during these hours a critical opportunity to restore the coastline’s appearance and safety. Recognizing the importance of a clean and welcoming environment, local tourism operators jointly proposed the idea of a collaborative cleanup initiative under the name “Pattaya Beach Cleaning”, aiming to promote unity among stakeholders and give everyone a chance to contribute to a better community. Volunteers were split into two main groups, covering the Dusit Curve and South Pattaya Beach areas. They walked along the coastline during low tide, collecting waste from far beyond the usual high-tide mark to make the beach not only cleaner, but also safer and more tourist-friendly. The success of the “Pattaya Beach Cleaning” event highlights the power of community collaboration and public-private partnership. Pattaya City has expressed its intention to continue organizing similar events in the future as part of its long-term strategy to protect and preserve its iconic shoreline—ensuring it remains pristine, safe, and inviting for all. Low Tide, High Impact: Locals and businesses tackle coastal trash together.   Jet Skis, massage clubs, and umbrella vendors unite for a cleaner Pattaya.
