Cloudy skies over Pattaya this weekend — drive carefully and wait for the sunshine that always follows
Gray days now, but sunny skies ahead — patience and care will see Pattaya through the rainy weekend.
PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya residents and visitors should prepare for a wet weekend as gray skies loom over the city, part of a broader weather pattern affecting much of Thailand. While it’s not all doom and gloom, the Meteorological Department advises caution on the roads and a bit of patience — the sun will surely return.
According to the Thai Meteorological Department’s 24-hour forecast, heavy rainfall is expected in parts of the East, upper Northeast, and the western South due to a strengthening southwest monsoon and a low-pressure system hovering over northern Vietnam. Bangkok and surrounding provinces are expected to see thunderstorms covering 60% of the area, mainly in the late afternoon to evening.
In Pattaya and across the Eastern region, residents can expect intermittent rain and cloudy conditions. Motorists are urged to drive carefully, especially during slippery conditions and low visibility, which are more common during afternoon downpours. Coastal waters may also see waves of 1–2 meters, with even higher swells in areas experiencing thunderstorms.
For those near the sea or planning boat trips in the upper Andaman or upper Gulf of Thailand, marine authorities advise extra caution and recommend avoiding areas with storm activity.
Despite the gloomy forecast, local residents know the drill: Pattaya might be cloudy now, but sunshine always follows. Grab an umbrella, take it slow on the roads, and look forward to clearer skies in the days to come. (Photo by Jetsada Homklin)
