Safer city on the ground and from above – Pattaya to spot and screen criminals with AI-powered drones
Pattaya Mayor and Tourist Police team up to launch AI and drone patrols for safer tourism.
PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City is preparing to enhance public safety by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) technology and drones to support the local tourist police force. On June 9, Pattaya Mayor Poramet Ngampichet welcomed Pol. Lt. Col. Torlarp Tinamat, Chief of Pattaya Tourist Police, to discuss the strategic use of drones alongside mobile police service units.
The initiative aims to strengthen crime prevention and suppression efforts by using AI technology connected to central criminal databases. This will enable real-time tracking and identification of suspects, including individuals with outstanding arrest warrants. The drones will be deployed during large-scale events and in high-traffic tourist zones to monitor activities from above and respond swiftly to suspicious behavior.
The plan reflects the city’s commitment to aligning safety strategies with the unique context of Pattaya as a major international tourist destination. Mayor Poramet emphasized that the new system is expected to benefit both the public and government agencies while enhancing Pattaya’s image as a smart and secure city.
Authorities hope the move will reassure tourists and residents alike, reinforcing Pattaya’s reputation as a safe and welcoming place to visit.
