Pattaya reviews 14 funding requests for 2026 with focus on transparency, relevance, and local benefit
Deputy Mayor Wuttisak leads a key review session at Pattaya City Hall to assess 14 public grant proposals for the 2026 fiscal year, emphasizing transparency, local relevance, and impact. PATTAYA, Thailand – Deputy Mayor Wuttisak Rermkijakarn chaired the second meeting of the 2025 committee responsible for reviewing government grant applications submitted by external agencies for fiscal year 2026. The session included the participation of Deputy Mayor Manot Nongyai, Assistant Secretary to the Mayor Sakchai Charoenyukongrot, along with heads of relevant municipal departments and the subcommittee overseeing financial aid distribution. The committee scrutinized 14 proposed projects, many of which were resubmissions from previous years. To ensure responsible use of public funds, the committee mandated that each applicant provide a clear report on their project’s progress or outcomes—especially if funding had previously been granted. Completed projects must submit final reports for the current year, while ongoing efforts must detail their current implementation status. Documentation of results from prior years is also required for reference. The following 14 projects were reviewed: Bang Lamung District Security Operations – A recurring request for financial support to help the Bang Lamung District Office maintain public order in the area. Provincial Drug Suppression Enhancement Program – Funding for the Chonburi Provincial Narcotics Command Center to improve drug prevention and control capacities under the provincial administration. Bang Lamung Police Anti-Drug Campaign – Financial aid to support Bang Lamung Police Station’s operations in suppressing narcotics-related crimes. Pattaya Police Anti-Drug Program – A parallel proposal from Pattaya City Police Station seeking budget assistance to enhance its drug prevention and enforcement activities. Royal Ceremonies and Commemorative Events – Requested by the Bang Lamung District Office to fund national and royal events honoring the Thai monarchy, in coordination with Pattaya City. Road Accident Prevention during Festivals – Also submitted by the Bang Lamung District Office, this project aims to reduce road accidents during high-risk holiday periods such as Songkran and New Year. Animal Welfare and Stray Animal Control – A project proposed by the Chonburi Stray Dog Shelter Foundation to manage stray dogs and improve animal welfare practices across the province. First Aid and Basic Medical Training – A funding request from Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation in Pattaya to organize first aid and basic life support training for the general public and volunteers. Support for the Chonburi Red Cross – A proposal from the Chonburi Provincial Red Cross seeking assistance for humanitarian and public health initiatives in the region. Youth Self-Reliance Development Program – Submitted by the Father Ray Foundation, this project focuses on building life skills and independence in underprivileged children and youth. Employment Promotion for Persons with Disabilities – A project led by the Redemptorist Foundation (Mahatai Foundation) to support disabled individuals in finding employment and managing the Pattaya-based disability employment center. Skill Training for Children with Autism and Intellectual Disabilities – Also from the Redemptorist Foundation, this initiative promotes vocational training and developmental support for children with special needs. Pattaya City Art Competition – Proposed by the Pattaya Cultural Council, the project encourages artistic expression and community engagement through a visual art contest. Thai Heritage Preservation Project – Another Cultural Council proposal aimed at promoting awareness and conservation of Thailand’s traditional cultural heritage through events and education. Following extensive discussion, the committee approved several projects but recommended budget adjustments for others. Each proposal had to demonstrate clear coordination with Pattaya City and direct benefit to its residents. Deputy Mayor Wuttisak emphasized that for the 2026 fiscal year and beyond, all grant-supported activities must take place within Pattaya city limits. Agencies seeking funding must strictly comply with the criteria and submit clearly documented, well-structured project proposals. Any vague or non-local initiatives risk being excluded from funding, in line with new accountability measures aimed at ensuring public funds are used effectively for the benefit of Pattaya residents. Deputy Mayor Manoch joins the funding review committee to ensure each supported project aligns with Pattaya’s priorities—promoting transparency, community benefit, and effective use of public funds. From road safety to art competitions — Pattaya City reviews 14 diverse projects aimed at improving life for locals in 2026. Strong focus on accountability and real community benefit.
