One less wire-hanging hazard in Pattaya – but many more to go
Crews clean up a cluster of low-hanging wires in front of Index Living Mall, Central Pattaya — a small win in a city overwhelmed by overhead cable chaos.
PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City has taken another small but symbolic step toward urban tidiness and public safety by clearing a messy tangle of communication wires in front of Index Living Mall on Sukhumvit Road, Central Pattaya. The clean-up came after a complaint was submitted to the “Direct Line to Mayor Beer” Facebook page, reporting dangerous low-hanging cables that obstructed pedestrian pathways and posed a risk to public safety.
In response, the Public Complaints Division of Pattaya City Hall coordinated with relevant government and private sector agencies to conduct an on-site operation. The team worked to realign and bundle the cables, improving the visibility and safety of the stretch for both pedestrians and motorists.
The incident sparked broader online discussions about the state of urban infrastructure in Pattaya. Residents praised the effort but were quick to point out that many areas still suffer from the same problem.
“Please check Soi Buakhao 15, behind The Avenue. It’s messy and dangerous too,” one commenter urged.
“Wires are hanging in the middle of the intersection at the Photisan Market junction—it’s been months,” another added.
Pattaya’s skyline is slowly clearing, but the mission to organize miles of tangled communication cables is far from over.
The city’s complaint team confirmed that they are now mobilizing to inspect and coordinate with private providers to resolve these reported issues as well.
“Please look at Thepprasit Soi 9 too—it’s full of garbage,” said one Pattaya local, pointing out that visual clutter in the city isn’t limited to just cables.
Still, there were also positive reactions to the recent improvement: “Beautiful work!” one resident commented, applauding the Index Living Mall cleanup.
While the recent effort shows that local government is listening, the bigger picture is clear: one less dangerous stretch of wires is welcome, but Pattaya has a long way to go in reclaiming its skyline from chaotic utility cables—and in gaining the trust of a community that wants safer, cleaner streets.
Residents quickly praised the fix — but also flagged other problem spots across the city, urging authorities to keep the momentum going.
While one area saw improvement, some locals reminded officials not to ignore other urban eyesores — like garbage piling up in Thepprasit Soi 9.
Thanks to a citizen report via the “Direct Line to Mayor Beer” page, Pattaya officials and telecom crews swung into action to restore safety on this busy stretch.
From Soi Buakhao 15 to Photisan Market junction, citizens are now calling out cable messes across Pattaya, hoping their complaints will spark action too.
