Tomorrowland to make Asian debut in Chonburi in 2026 with billion-baht investment
Chonburi secures global spotlight as the first Asian host of Tomorrowland, the world’s premier EDM festival, set to draw hundreds of thousands of music lovers. PATTAYA, Thailand – The world-renowned Tomorrowland music festival will make its Asian debut in Chonburi in December next year, with an expected investment of over one billion baht. Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Thapanee Kiatphaibool, has confirmed that the organizers of the Belgian music festival Tomorrowland have selected Chonburi province as the location for their first event in Asia. Governor Thapanee stated that Tomorrowland, the world’s largest electronic dance music (EDM) festival, chose Chonburi for its large, suitable spaces and convenient accessibility. The location is easily reached by international tourists via U-Tapao, Suvarnabhumi, and Don Mueang airports. The province also has ample accommodation and facilities to support the massive event. The TAT Governor said negotiations are currently underway regarding government support, including potential privileges from the Board of Investment (BOI). While the primary investment will come from Tomorrowland and its private sector partners, some government financial support may be provided in exchange for benefits for Thailand. The total investment is expected to be in the billions of baht, with an annual budget of around 10 million U.S. dollars. The TAT Governor noted the agreement is a long-term contract, likely lasting at least five years. The project will include more than just the concert; it will also establish an “Event Academy.” This academy will aim to enhance the skills of Thai entrepreneurs in organizing large-scale music and entertainment events, leveraging Tomorrowland’s world-class standards. The festival is expected to attract hundreds of thousands of attendees from around the globe. The initial event in 2026 will run for two to three days, with exclusive travel packages available, similar to the model used in Belgium. (NNT) With support from Thailand’s tourism authorities, the mega-event will also launch an Event Academy to train locals in world-class concert production.
