(Photo by Jetsada Homklin) PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya’s tourism sector is gearing up for a lively mid-year rebound, fueled in part by a new government initiative encouraging domestic travel and spending. The “Thai Half-Half Travel” program officially opens for bookings on July 1, with travel starting July 4. The program offers up to 3,000 baht per night in government subsidies to help holidaymakers enjoy affordable stays and dining. Ms. Sasikan Watthanajan, Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, shared that the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is spearheading the project to revive tourism and support local businesses. So far, over 34,000 tourism operators have applied to participate, with more than 6,400 approved after stringent qualification checks to prevent misuse. Eligible participants will have access to a total of 500,000 rights nationwide. Each traveler can claim up to five rights: three for primary destinations like Pattaya, and two for secondary cities. The government subsidizes 50% of accommodation costs (up to 3,000 baht per night) on weekdays and 40% on weekends and holidays. Additionally, travelers receive 500-baht coupons per right to spend on food and shopping at partner businesses. Ms. Sasikan urges Thai travelers to take advantage of the ‘Co-Pay Travel’ program starting July 1 to boost local tourism and support businesses across Pattaya. Pattaya, as a leading resort destination, is expected to benefit significantly from this campaign, with its already growing visitor numbers set to increase further. Hotels, restaurants, and entertainment venues are preparing for an influx of local tourists eager to take advantage of these generous offers. This government support complements Pattaya’s ongoing tourism recovery, which has seen more European and international visitors returning amid favorable exchange rates and attractive promotions. With a busy July and August ahead, the city’s economy looks set to regain momentum, offering plenty of opportunities for workers and businesses alike. Ms. Sasikan encouraged everyone to get ready to book their rights and explore Thailand’s diverse attractions. “This project is a key measure to stimulate tourism, generate income for entrepreneurs across all regions, and allow Thai people to enjoy cost-effective vacations. Let’s help drive the country’s economy forward together,” she said.
