PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department issued a warning on July 18, forecasting heavy rains in parts of Northern, Central, and Eastern Thailand—especially in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, and Chiang Rai provinces. Residents are advised to prepare for possible flash floods and landslides in mountainous and low-lying areas. Bangkok and its metropolitan area face a 70% chance of thunderstorms with some localized heavy rain, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 35 degrees Celsius.
A tropical storm named “Wipha” has strengthened near the eastern Philippines and is expected to move over the northern Philippines into the northern South China Sea between July 19–22. This will intensify the southwest monsoon, bringing heavier rain and rough seas in the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand, with waves reaching 2 to 3 meters or more. Mariners should exercise caution and avoid sailing in stormy conditions.
Despite ongoing unsettled weather in other parts of Thailand, Pattaya remains the top choice for weekend getaways among residents of Bangkok and nearby areas. With its easy accessibility, vibrant nightlife, and stunning beaches, Pattaya continues to offer a convenient and refreshing escape from the bustle of city life.
Recent data from Agoda confirms Pattaya’s popularity, naming it the most visited destination in Thailand for short overnight stays during the first five months of 2025. Other top Thai destinations for quick trips include Chonburi, Hua Hin, Rayong, and Khao Yai, highlighting the growing trend of convenient weekend getaways across the country.
Pattaya’s popularity is driven by its strong infrastructure, quality hospitality, and vibrant tourism scene, making it a leading destination for short trips in Thailand. Officials have also prioritized flood management and disaster preparedness to ensure the safety and comfort of residents and visitors. The city has implemented advanced drainage systems and early warning technologies to effectively manage heavy rains and potential flooding. Thanks to these proactive measures, floodwaters typically dry up within an hour, minimizing disruption even during challenging weather conditions. In all, it makes a short trip to Pattaya a safe, smooth, and pleasurable one.
